Our Children's ministry here at Village Church is called Route 66 and that comes from Deuteronomy 6:6-7 which states, "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." One of our goals is to equip parents to be the main spiritual caregivers in the home and to be able to minister well to their Children.
One of the focuses of our Children's ministry is that the children receive an age-appropriate theology and Bible study. Every child that goes through our children's ministry will hear lessons from every part of the Bible. We are able to accomplish this by using David C. Cook's curriculum, "tru." This curriculum goes through the Bible in a year and includes parent pages for you as the parents to stay involved with your kids.
What to Expect on Sundays
First Hour - 10:00am-11:00am
Preschool students are dropped off at this time in their room (KB 1) and begin their 1st hour class. The preschool program is directed by Jonathan and Yana and she schedules several different people and teams to lead these kids each week.
K-5 grade students are signed in during greeting time in the lobby then are taken by their teachers to the kid's worship (KB 5) center of our Kids Building. This class is led by a different trained and equipped teacher each week. Kid's worship opens our time as our children enjoy singing and leading their own worship songs to our Lord. Our goal with this time is to see the kids learn how to passionately worship God through song.
Second Hour - 11:00am-12:00pm
K-2 grade students are picked up by their second hour teachers from the Kid's worship center and begin a more in depth look at their Bible lesson for the day in KB 3. This class is led by Carolyn and Norm and more staff is coming soon.
3-5 grade students are also picked up by their second hour teachers from the Kid's worship center and will follow a similar format as the K-2 grade students, but with more age-appropriate study in "The Garage" or KB 4. This class is led by Alex and Becky as well as Phil and Janene.
Preschool will stay in their room with a different teacher team. They will do a craft and delve more in depth to the Bible story as well.
CHECK IN/OUT
Sometimes coming to a new church may be a little confusing, so here’s a quick walk-through of our Kidz Ministry.
Signing in
If your children are pre-school and up then they will join you in the service which starts at 9:30am. After singing together as a family, your children will be dismissed to their different classes for first hour Sunday School (10-11am). You will need to sign them in on their sign in sheets.
Grades K-2 and 3-5 sign in sheets are located in the lobby right next to the worship center toward the 2 sets of glass doors. If your child is in preschool, then you will need to follow them into the preschool room which is located in our Kids Building. The preschool room is the bottom left room, Kids Building 1 (KB1).
Upon signing your children in, they will be released to our CAPP* trained volunteers who will teach them the Bible story for the day, and have age appropriate activities. Preschool/K children will remain together and all of grades K-5 will be together for the first hour.
Signing out
After our worship service is over, please join us for our education hour from 11am-12pm. If you would like to leave before that, then you are welcome to go to your child's room in the Kids Building and sign them out.
After our education hour (noon), please sign out your children in the following locations.
- Preschoolers - Bottom left room (KB1)
- Grades K-2 - Bottom right room (KB3)
- Grades 3-5 - Top left room (KB4).
All of our leaders are CAPP (Child Abuse Prevention Program) trained, background-checked, and have been screened by the Children's Ministry Director.
